Parts of campus will look a little different when students return from winter break.
The reception area in the College of Musical Arts, the eighth floor of Jerome Library and room 205 in Williams Hall are all slated to have renovations and fix-ups done over break.
A reception desk in the College of Musical Arts will be removed, according to Ryan Miller, project manager in the Office of Design and Construction. The desk was mostly used for displaying flyers.
“It’s really a minor renovation,” Miller said. “The carpet will also be replaced, as well as the wall base.”
Miller expects this project to be a two-day process, which will be done by the time students return in January.
Jerome Library’s eighth floor will have a more open feel when students return from break.
Two rooms will be demolished to make room for the new shelving and tables, according to Miller.
The rooms were secured processing for the sound recording archives and the pop culture library, according to Kelly Broughton, interim associate dean of IT.
“It will make more open room for study space and shelving,” Broughton said.
Room 205 in Williams Hall, a computer lab for grad students, is also slated for improvements, according to Stacy Elling, project coordinator in the Office of Design and Construction.
“The current room isn’t up to par,” Elling said.
The built-in computer desks will be replaced with new desks. The carpet will also be replaced and the walls will be repainted.
As long as things go on schedule, the renovations should be complete by the time classes resume in January, Elling said.
Other projects, such as renovations in Mosley Hall, were tentatively scheduled to occur during break, but have not yet been approved, according to Elling. Because of this, they may or may not be done during break.
