Purely orgasmic. Those are the best – if not only – words to describe the events of Tuesday night at the Seagate Center in Toledo.
Simply put, 311 and Hoobastank rocked the house for three hours, mixing new with old and popular with the unknown to put on an unbelievable show.
The concert, hosted by Toledo’s 106.5 FM The Zone, was part of 311’s 2002 tour, which kicked off March 7.
Hoobastank opened the show by jamming to an action-packed 45-minute set that featured “Crawling in the Dark,” the band’s opening single. The band kicked off the set with “Pieces,” and the rest of its set included “Remember Me?” “Better,” “Let You Know” and “Too Little Too Late.”
311 took the stage after a 20-minute recess, and it brought the funk for two non-stop hours. Included in its set was an exciting mix of old and new. Lead singer Nick Hexum got the crowd going by saying, “This is for all the old-school 311 fans.” Hexum subsequently went into a house-rocking version of its classic “Down,” which kept the crowd jumping for the rest of the night.
The headliners also rocked out to classics “All Mixed Up,” “Freak Out” and the ballad “Amber” in its set. “Beautiful Disaster” also kept the fans on their feet.
This spectator especially enjoyed the band’s kicking performance of its hit “Who’s Got the Herb?,” when he was instantly surrounded by a could of marijuana smoke.
It may have been the second-hand smoke that kept the fans jumping, but whatever it was, this much is certain: 311 and Hoobastank know how to put on a show.
