The Donnas have been looked at with a magnifying glass ever since they decided to start a band in eighth grade.
They were already considered outcasts because they enjoyed listening to punk and rock music. When they started their own band, Raggedy Ann everyone at school thought they were crazy, among other things. All of the male bands made fun of them, and refused to give them a chance.
The only recognition Raggedy Ann received at school was from other girls that secretly admitted to enjoying their music. After playing at bars in California that they were not even old enough to get into, a producer recognized them and convinced them to change their name to The Donnas.
Most people don’t realize that The Donna’s latest release titled, Spend the Night, is actually the band’s fifth album. The Donnas have been playing against all odds because they believed they would be given a chance sooner or later.
The Donnas time has finally arrived, and they seem more than prepared, even though they all just turned 23 this past year. The music has been polished over the years, helping The Donnas prepare for their first major label release under Atlantic Records. If people don’t notice The Donnas music, their good looks are almost impossible to miss. In The Donna’s case, looks can be very deceiving. They might look like the next big stars for TRL, but their music and attitude is not watered down at all. With recent performances on MTV and “Saturday Night Live,” The Donnas have been getting respect and showing the world what an all girl rock group is capable of doing.
