Q: What instrument do you play in the band and why did you chose to play that instrument?
A: I play keyboard, synthesizer, and so a little backup vocals. I started off as the singer and the keyboard thing was just going to be for one song. But we liked the keyboard and I didn’t like my voice, so we incorporated the keyboard into all of our songs and gave Joe the singing duties.
Q: What is the band currently up to? Touring, recording, etc.?
A: Currently we are just practicing and writing new material. We are playing shows here and there and are also self-recording a little demo to send to record labels.
Q: Are you for or against the mullet hairstyle?
A: I personally am not against it. I would never grow one but if other people want to go for it, I am always up for a good laugh. But that’s just me.
Q: If you had to take 3 CDs to a deserted island, what would they be and why?
A: The three CDs I would take would most likely be Hopesfall, The Satellite Years, because it is one of the most beautiful CDs I have ever heard, and even better, it is hardcore. I would also take Me Without You, [A–>B] Life. That CD just really appeals to me. It’s hard but the vocals are what I enjoy about it the most. The third CD would have to be American Football, American Football because it is mellow and slow and a good change of pace from the other two, plus it will help me fall asleep.
Q: What bands do you look at and ask yourself, “How did they get a record deal?”
A: Crazy Town, Nickleback and all those other bands that sound like them. Also Avril Lavine, she got paid $2 million before she ever wrote a song.
Q: If you had to make a “supergroup” comprised of a bassist, guitarist, singer and drummer, who would the group consist of?
A: Cedric Bixler- Vocals (Mars Volta), Omar Rodrigues- Guitar (Mars Volta), Dave Grohl (Foo Fighters), Flea – Bass (Red Hot Chili Peppers), Adrian Pope-Keys (The Anniversary), Chad Sexton-Drums (311).
Q: Who were your musical influences growing up?
A: Michael Jackson, Huey Lewis and the News, Bush, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Soundgarden, are all pre-high school. But in high school, Saves the Day, Weezer, The Get Up Kids, Still Drowning, MXPX, Nirvana, and The Orange County Supertones.
Q: Why is Black Sabbath not in the Rock ‘N’ Roll Hall of Fame, but the Bee Gees are?
A: The Bee Gees know how to dance. Can you see Ozzy getting down to “Stayin’ Alive” or “Saturday Night Fever?”
Q: How did the band get together?
A: It started out as a joke actually when Greg asked Rob if he wanted to start a band. But I got to thinking about how I wanted to be in a band, so I got a couple of other guys together and we started practicing. Since then we have had a lineup change, just a decrease in members and an instrument switch, but it has been a great move.
Q: If someone offered you to be the most successful band in the world , but it had to be in the form of a boy band, would you do it? Why or why not?
A: No way, man, it’s not about the money. If I did that I would be a huge hypocrite. I rip on sell-outs worse than anyone I know. Ask my friends who like Good Charlotte. Plus I feel that boy bands are such a joke.
