Gather your favorite photograph that you have taken because the International Library of Photography is holding the International Open Amateur Photography Contest. 1,300 prizes that will be offered.
The IOAPC is not only open to photography students, but anyone with a passion for taking pictures that are unforgettable.
This is a contest for photographers who want their talents to be seen, and for those who want to see their talents awarded for over $60,000 in cash prizes.
“Everyone has at least one memorable photo that captures a special moment in time,” contest director, Christina Baylon said. “When people learn about our free photography contest, they suddenly realize that their own favorite photos can win cash prizes, as well as gain national exposure.”
The categories for the contest include: People, Travel, Pets, Children, Sports, Nature, Action, Humor, Portraiture, or Other.
To enter your portrait must be a color or black-and-white print, and an 8″*10″ dimension or smaller. Your entry must include the photographer’s name, address, category, and title of the piece on the back of the photograph.
The photographs must be sent to: The International Library of Photography, Suite 101-3941, 3600 Crondall Lane, Owings Mills, MD 21117.
The annual grand prize for these contests is $10,000, and the grand prize for individual contest is $1,000.
“In the last ten years we have awarded over $150,000 to talented amateurs, many of whom has never before entered any type of artistic competition,” a member of the ILP, Jeffrey Bryan said.
If interested, your entrees must be postmarked by November 30, 2004, or you can submit your entry directly with the ILP online at www.pictures.com. Many of the pieces that are received in the contest will be considered for publication. “Entries that exhibit a unique perspective or artistic vision are advanced to the semifinalists in the contest,” according to the ILP. “We review thousands of entries each of which is evaluated by our selection committee.
