Most people that I know look forward to Fridays and Saturdays at least so they can let loose for a brief period and not have to worry about getting up the next morning and go to classes.
Though not I.
I think people have forgotten the best day of the week — Sunday. I hear people all the time complain how they hate Sundays, and I can’t seem to understand why. Sunday is by far the best day of the week, and I’m tired of hearing all those whiners, how they hate Sundays because they have to go back to school tomorrow and can’t party.
So, I would like to take a little time out of my day to give a salute to Sundays, the most unappreciated day of the week.
Sunday, unlike the rest of the week, is a day of relaxation and, by the rules of the Sabbath, is supposed to be. It symbolizes how God created the world in six day’s and rested on the seventh.
Sounds like a good idea to me.
We all are all busy most of the week with work and school and the partying of the weekend. By Sunday, I, for one, am beat.
For me, more than anything, it is about relaxing with my friends and gathering the thoughts of the past week and what to do for the week ahead. It gives you time to clear your head of all the alcohol and hangovers, and tell yourself how you are never getting that wasted again until next weekend rolls around.
There seems to be a certain atmosphere that surrounds Sundays in a way a child feels the night before Christmas. There seems to be a certain vibe in the air that is almost unexplainable, one that sets you at ease of all the stress from the week before and seems to float away in an instant. That calming affect is why I love Sundays so much.
However, a lot of people I know get too stressed out on Sundays because they know they have to go back to school the next day for another week of studying and exams. One of my roommates in particular said he hates Sundays because there’s nothing to do except worry about all the stuff he has to do for the week ahead. My advice to him or anybody like that is, instead of worrying about it, do something about it.
It is true that for the most part there really isn’t anything to do because, anything to do, for most, means there are no parties, the bar is closed, as well as the liquor store. So, since there isn’t anything to do, and instead of worrying about all the work you have to do, why don’t you just go and do some?
I, for one, get most of my work done on Sundays because I am a notorious procrastinator, and Sunday gives me the time to catch up for all that procrastination.
Though more than anything I love Sundays, especially this time of the year because it is football season, and the Browns are actually looking good this year so far. But now that I said it, I just jinxed everything. Why’d I have to go and do that?
Anyways, football on Sundays is almost as holy as the Sabbath itself.
It also gives time for you and all of your new roommates to sit around and bond about what the hell that quarterback was thinking, and go on to tell how bad this coach sucks, and how much of a better job you can do.
And, if you really hate wasting a day on the weekend of not partying, it gives you one more excuse to go out and buy a keg, and celebrate your favorite team, the Browns, by getting absolutely wasted, losing your voice because you can’t stop screaming at the TV and banging your moms 30-year-old pots and pans she’s never used before and ruining them in an instant.
After this week of partying, and drinking just remember that Sunday is right around the corner. So raise one high if you got one and salute one to Sundays.
