BGSU’s Institute for the Study of Culture and Society (ICS) will be hosting two events on the changing role of performing arts as a part of their Spring 2023 Faculty Fellows Lecture Series according to the press release.

The first event will be Wednesday, Feb. 22 at 7:00 p.m. at the Black Swamp Players Theater in Bowling Green.

Professor Angela Ahlgren will be presenting the topic “Places, Please: Stage Managers, Gender and Invisible Labour.”

Other topics being discussed will be cultural shifts such as quiet-quitting and The Great Resignation.

The other event will be Thursday, March 2, at 7 p.m. at the Way Public Library in Perrysburg.

Professor Ryan Ebright will be presenting “Making American Opera After Einstein.” This discussion will focus on how American opera has transformed over the last 40 years.

“These events illustrate the work of public humanities and arts scholars to examine and explain the changing world we live in,” ICS Director Jolie Sheffer said.

Both events are free and open to the public.
