The first practice for the fall Falcon sports teams is in the books. Naturally, around every team there are bound to be some questions. Here are our Falcon Four questions to watch for with the fall sports programs.
Football: Who will win the QB Battle?
This may be an obvious question but the answer is far from obvious. Following the departure of quarterback Matt McDonald, the Falcons will need to narrow in on who the new commander of the offense will be. In the opening practice of the fall both Camden Orth and Connor Bazelak split reps as QB1. Orth has been a backup QB during his time at Bowling Green and Bazelak is in his first year at Bowling Green after transferring from Indiana.
Volleyball: What is Petra Indrova’s injury status?
Petra Indrova is a two-time Mid-American Conference (MAC) Player of the Year, so it was huge when Indrova announced her return to the program for a fifth season. However, on just the second day of fall training Indrova was injured following a left-side attack resulting in team personnel having to carry her off the floor and to the locker room. Certainly BGSU volleyball is a team with plenty of talent depth but certainly you hope to have a player of Indrova’s caliber on the floor at all times.
Men’s Soccer: How will the new team members gel in a new conference?
Eric Nichols’ men’s soccer program welcomes 14 newcomers into the fray for the upcoming season, making up more than half of the 26 members of the overall roster. The Falcons also moved to the Missouri Valley Conference (MVC) as there is no longer men’s soccer in the MAC. Team chemistry is something to keep an eye on as it will have a connection to communication and on-field performance in a year where the Falcons look to make a splash in a new conference.
Women’s Soccer: Who steps up this season?
Women’s soccer is consistently one of Bowling Green’s best teams. Prior to the 2022 season the program won four straight regular season and conference tournament titles. The team loses their top point scorer from last season Kenna White, but returns the second highest point scorer sophomore Brynn Gardner. As the Falcons make a push back to the conference championship, the question of who steps up, will be one that needs answering.
