Bowling Green women’s soccer took to the road for the shortest road trip of the year to start Mid-American Conference (MAC) play. The Battle of I-75 against Toledo at Paul Hotmer Field served as the first game of conference play for both squads.
For Toledo, it was the first time playing against Bowling Green under new head coach, Mark Batman. For Bowling Green’s Ellie Pool, it served as her return to the field she once called home during her time as a member of the Toledo Rockets.
Pool wasted no time leaving her mark on the match scoring a goal in just the second minute of the match on an assist from Maya Dean.
In the second half, Brynn Gardner would convert on a penalty kick opportunity after Emma Stransky was fouled in the box.
Bowling Green’s two goals would be the only two goals in the game as the Falcons were able to execute a shutout against the Rockets on opening night.
Bowling Green will head home for the first home MAC matchup against Western Michigan on Sunday, September 24. Kickoff is slated for 1:00 p.m. EST and will be senior day for the Falcons.
