Bowling Green women’s soccer took on the Akron Zips on Thursday night for the third match of Mid-American Conference (MAC) play. Bowling Green entered the match with a 1-0-1 record in the MAC, and in a tie for second place in the standings.
The match was fast paced from the start with the Falcons tallying 11 shots, five on goal, in the first half. Akron also had some chances with two shots on goal, but the first half came to a close in a scoreless draw.
It was more of the same in the second half with Bowling Green controlling much of the possession. The Falcons struck in the 79th minute via a freshman connection as Christie Fransen found Emma Stransky who nailed a shot from over 20 yards away from goal.
The Falcons would closeout the game by holding the Zips scoreless, earning their third shutout victory in a row and fourth of the season. Bowling Green will hit the road now for two games, the first against the Ohio Bobcats on Sunday, October 1, with kickoff set for 1:00 p.m. EST.
