Bowling Green running back Terion Stewart, and cornerback Deshawn Jones Jr. have been named MAC East Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week, respectively.
Stewart carried the ball 26 times for 138 rushing yards and a touchdown and played an integral part in sapping eight minutes from the clock on the Falcons’ last drive of the game on Saturday against Georgia Tech.
Jones had four tackles, a 45-yard interception return for a touchdown, and played a key role in holding Georgia Tech’s offense scoreless for almost 40 minutes.
This is the first Player of the Week award for both players, and the first time a Falcon has been given POTW honors since Odieu Hiliare earned MAC East POTW in last year’s Week 12 victory against Toledo.
Stewart and Jones were not the just the only Falcons to get some hardware this week.
In fact, everyone got hardware, as the Falcons were named the Cheez-It National Team of the Week, as selected by the All-America Committee of the Football Writers Association of America.
This is Bowling Green’s first national team of the week honor from the FWAA.
Stewart, Jones, and the rest of the Falcons are back in MACtion against Miami (OH) in Oxford on October 7. Kickoff is set for 3:30 p.m.
