Bowling Green women’s basketball traveled to San Marcos, Texas for their first MAC-SBC Challenge matchup on Saturday.
The Falcons struggled off the opening tip as Erika Porter received two fouls in just the first two minutes of the contest. Despite early foul troubles from multiple Bowling Green starters, Texas State lead just 21-17 after the first quarter.
The foul trouble continued for Bowling Green tallying 17 fouls in just the first half and the Falcons trailed by nine at the halftime break.
Texas State came back out of the locker room with the same energy they had to start, outscoring the Falcons in each quarter and cruising to a 74-48 victory.
In a game in which Bowling Green ended with 26 fouls and 27 turnovers, Amy Velasco led the way with 14 points on the day after playing all but the last three minutes. Freshman, Taya Ellis, also had a nice performance hauling in 11 rebounds and having four blocks down low.
The Falcons will be back in action on Saturday, November 18, as they travel to Cincinnati to take on Xavier; opening tip-off is set for 2:00 p.m. EST.
