The Bowling Green Falcons continue to stay red hot, as earlier Saturday afternoon, the orange and brown won their fifth straight game, this time by a final of 79-69 against the University of Missouri-Kansas City.
The game started rough, with both sides missing their opening shots. A three from the top of the arch by Trey Thomas got the Falcons’ first points.
Minutes later, two Rashaun Agee free throws put the Falcons up 14-6. Later on, a Jason Spurgin three-pointer put the Falcons up by 14 points.
At halftime, BG was up 45-34 against Kansas City. Marcus Hill led in scoring for the Falcons with 23 points on 8/13 shooting.
Bowling Green recorded only one turnover at halftime.
Just 17 seconds into the second half, Spurgin scored on a layup to open the half for the orange and brown. Minutes later, DaJion Humphrey hit a three to extend the Falcon lead by 15 points.
The Falcons won the contest 79-69 and secured their fifth straight win, improving to 7-3 on the season. The Falcons have the longest winning streak in the Mid-American Conference, with Kent State and Toledo just behind BG with three straight victories.
Hill led the Falcons in scoring with 29 points on 10/21 shooting, also going 4/8 from the three-point line. Spurgin scored 20 points on 6/11 shooting.
Agee recorded a double-double for BG, scoring 10 points and grabbing 12 rebounds respectively.
As a team, the Falcons shot 43.5% from field goal range, grabbed 41 rebounds and only turned over the ball six times.
Bowling Green remains at the Stroh Center for their next contest against Hampton on Dec. 19, with tipoff at 11 a.m.
