Winter Weather Advisory
As we transition our way out of the recent cold snap, Bowling Green and surrounding areas will welcome in an unfriendly weather condition for the area: freezing rain.
The National Weather Service in Cleveland has placed the entirety of their coverage area under a Winter Weather Advisory due to the ice threat.
The advisory will be active from 7 PM tonight, until noon on Tuesday, January 23rd. Freezing rain is possible from 11 PM tonight, until late Tuesday morning. The area could see a coating of 0.1 to 0.25 inches of ice. This could allow for roads to ice over, even if they have been treated.
Freezing rain possesses the capability to wash brine and salt off of the roadways, allow for ice to form. If possible, stay off of the roadways throughout the duration of the freezing rain event to avoid slick road conditions.
Stay tuned to the National Weather Service in Cleveland, Bowling Green State University weather alerts, and my social media (@AaronMayBG24) for the latest updates on the winter weather updates and if there are any class cancelations.
