The Bowling Green men’s basketball team (14-4, 5-1 MAC) will travel south to Lafayette for a matchup with the Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns (11-8, 4-3 SBC) on Sunday, Feb. 11.
The Mid-American Conference (MAC) and Sun Belt Conference (SBC) announced the second slate of games for this season’s MAC-SBC Challenge on Monday afternoon.
The challenge, a scheduling alliance between the two conferences for men’s and women’s basketball, began this season. The second round of matchups were put together based on real-time NET rankings, projected season finishes and previous cross-conference contests.
In the first round of matchups, MAC schools were victorious in seven of the 12 contests.
The game in February will be the first contest between the Falcons and Ragin’ Cajuns.
Louisiana has won three straight games and four of their last five contests, sitting in fifth place in the SBC standings.
In their first MAC-SBC Challenge game, the Ragin’ Cajuns played Toledo on Nov. 11, falling to the Rockets at Savage Arena, 87-78.
The Falcons have been red-hot recently, winners of four consecutive games and 12 of their last 13 contests. In the first season of the Todd Simon era, BG is off to their best start through 18 games since the 2001-2002 campaign and sits in second place in the MAC standings.
In Bowling Green’s first MAC-SBC Challenge game, the Falcons defeated Arkansas State at the Stroh Center on Nov. 11, 81-75.
Next up, the Orange and Brown will host Kent State (9-9, 2-4 MAC), the reigning MAC Tournament champions, on Tuesday, Jan. 23. Falcon Media Sports Network’s Rhys Patrykus and Chas McNeil will have the call on Falcon Radio starting at 6:45 for pregame and 7 p.m. for tip-off.
