The Bowling Green men’s basketball team (20-13, 10-8 MAC) has accepted a bid to play in the 2024 CollegeInsiders.com Postseason Tournament (CIT) for the first time since the 2014-2015 season.
The Falcons, who fell to the Mid-American Conference Tournament runner-up Kent State Golden Flashes in the semifinals, will battle Purdue Fort Wayne, who lost to the Horizon League Tournament champion Oakland Golden Grizzlies in the quarterfinals, in the first round of the tournament at the Stroh Center on Wednesday. Tip-off for the postseason battle is set for 7 p.m.
“We are honored to accept the invitation to play in the CIT. It is a great opportunity to continue to compete with this special group for BGSU and build on a 20-win season,” head coach Todd Simon said in a press release on Sunday night. “We are excited to play in front of the absolute best fans as we bring postseason play to the Stroh Center. We are grateful to the CIT, our administration and the fans that showed out this season to make hosting a reality. Let’s pack the Stroh a couple more times!”
Each game in the first round of the CIT is a trophy game, with BG’s contest on Wednesday being the Jim Phelan Classic.
