The Ball State Cardinals defeated Bowling Green softball 11-3 in six innings to complete the sweep.
The Falcons jumped on the board first in the first inning of the game. With the bases loaded freshman Cameron Kaufman hit a sacrifice fly that scored a run from third to give the Falcons a 1-0 lead. Later in the inning, another run would score after Reagan Williamson singled to score the Falcon’s second run of the inning and take a 2-0 lead.
Ball State wasn’t down for long. In the bottom of the first inning, things collapsed for the Falcons. Six straight hits and an error in the inning saw the Cardinals playing eight runs to put the Falcons down 8-2 in the first inning. In the series, the Ball State Cardinals scored a total of 16 runs in the first innings.
In the bottom of the second inning, the Cardinals put two more runs on the board. An RBI single and an RBI double put the Cardinals up 10-2.
The scoring would be silent until the top of the fifth inning when the Falcons. The bases were loaded and Kaufman hit a line drive single to score the runner from third and make it 10-3.
Unfortunately for the Falcons in the sixth inning. A sacrifice fly that scored a run for the Cardinals meant the score would be final due to run rule and Ball State earned the 11-3 victory over the Falcons.
Next up, Bowling Green will return home to Meserve Field to host Central Michigan in a doubleheader on Tuesday, April 16th, with the first pitch set for 1 pm.
