The Bowling Green State University baseball team picked up a 14-5 final on Friday against the Ohio Bobcats in their first game, which helped progress the Falcons further in the Mid-American Conference.
BGSU’s 16-0 conference record is the best start in MAC baseball history.
Their home start is now 9-0, tying their best home start since 1946, also 9-0.
A career-high from Rigo Ramos helped this advantage as he struck out eight batters over five innings.
Because of a 7-5-2 putout at the plate, Caden Parker made his first assist for the season as he got the second out in the first half of the third inning.
Jack Krause took the walk while Leighton Banjoff hit-by-pitch in the fifth inning as well, which loaded the bases for TJ Takats as he hit a ground ball at first base. This led to his 24th RBI of the season.
Nathan Archer has had twelve home runs this season, with him also holding 29 home runs in his Falcon career, which places him ninth for all time with Derek Spencer.
In the batting order, every BGSU player during this game reached base at least once, with eight out of nine players logging RBIs or scoring.
With the win, Bowling Green has now advanced to 20-11 overall on the season and remains unbeaten in MAC play.
On Saturday, the Falcons and the Bobcats will play their second game in the three-game series, with first pitch set at 1 p.m. at Steller Field, as they recognize the 1999 and 2009 Falcon baseball teams on Alumni Day.
