Former BGSU men’s basketball guard Daeqwon Plowden has agreed to a two-way contract with the Golden State Warriors.
Plowden, who played four seasons at Bowling Green from 2017 through 2022 and has spent the past two seasons in the G League, earned the Warriors final two-way roster spot for the upcoming season.
“To have a guy be so efficient and effective without a play being called for him, [Plowden is] showing that he can play a role in the NBA,” Warriors summer league coach Anthony Vereen said. “The way he plays so hard, aggressively on both ends…He doesn’t take a play off, it’s a pleasure as a coach to watch him put himself in a better position.”
Plowden was a three-time All-Mid-American Conference (MAC) and one-time MAC All-Defensive team honoree for the Falcons.
He holds the program’s all-time record for career games played (154), and is the first player in program history to tally at least 1,200 career points, 800 rebounds and 100 blocks. Plowden ranks fourth in BG history for both career rebounds (935) and blocks (126).
“This is a great organization that I’m in; the standard is high,” Plowden said about the Warriors. “In my first two years [in the G League], I built up that standard every day and here [the Warriors] see me meeting that, so that experience goes a long way.”
Plowden played last season with the Osceola Magic, the G League affiliate of the Orlando Magic.
In 33 games, he averaged 25.0 minutes, 10.9 points, 4.3 rebounds, 1.4 assists, 0.7 steals and 0.7 blocks per game. Plowden shot 46.8% from the field, 39% on three pointers and 76% on free throws.
Plowden, who went undrafted in 2022, has garnered attention with the Warriors this summer.
The Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, native is averaging 16.6 points per game on 53.7% shooting from the field and 48.1% from deep through five games in the summer league.
