The Bowling Green baseball team and head coach Kyle Hallock announced the addition of 11 players to the 2025 roster on Tuesday afternoon, welcoming seven freshmen and four transfers.
BGSU’s additions include four right-handed pitchers, three outfielders, three infielders and one catcher.
“I would like to start off by thanking Coach Rembielak, Coach Gamache and Coach Cooper for their hard work in putting together an outstanding class. The 2024 recruiting class is a solid group of young men from both the college and prep levels,” Hallock said. “Each one of them provides the versatility we need to keep our program playing at the top of our conference. This next wave of Falcons, like the previous classes, hail from great families, are leaders on their former teams and will be a nice addition to the Falcon family.”
Here is a look at the new additions for the Falcons:
Gunner Antillon (Senior infielder)
Antillon arrives at Bowling Green as a transfer, following stops at California Baptist, New Mexico State and Riverside City College.
Across 41 games played and 28 starts at California Baptist last season, Antillon batted .243, slugged seven doubles and drove in 16 runs.
In 42 games started across two seasons at New Mexico State, the Rancho Cucamonga, California, native posted a .344 batting average, .452 on-base percentage (OBP) and .539 slugging percentage (SLG).
Antillon, who has played second base, shortstop and third base at the collegiate level, has also played in the Cape Cod, West Coast and Northwoods summer leagues.
“Gunner is an experienced middle infielder that has the ability to play all three infield spots very well,” Hallock said. “He’s faced the highest level of competition that college baseball has to offer by performing well in the Cape Cod League. We look forward to his impact on our program.”
CJ Boudreaux (Freshman right-handed pitcher)
Boudreaux comes to Bowling Green from Clay High School, where he was named the Three Rivers Athletic Conference (TRAC) Pitcher of the Year and All-League First Team selection after the 2022 season.
“I loved the BGSU campus and everyone around it,” Boudreaux said. “Coach Hallock was very welcoming and helpful.”
This past season, the Oregon, Ohio, native posted a 5-0 record and 0.69 earned run average (ERA) while striking out 52 batters in 30.1 innings pitched.
Across three varsity high school seasons, Boudreaux finished with a 12-4 record, posted a 1.44 ERA and struck out 141 in 97.1 innings.
“CJ has been one of the best arms in our backyard for a couple seasons. He has the ability to mix three pitches for strikes with a clean arm action that projects to throw harder,” Hallock said. “He will continue to get better in our system and help us win during these next four years.”
Jaxon Brown (Freshman catcher)
Brown, a 6-foot-4-inch switch-hitting catcher, comes to Bowling Green from Lexington High School.
“Everything feels right. The school programs are amazing,” Brown said. “The coaches and athletic facilities are great, and the campus feels like home.”
The Lexington, Ohio, native was named the team’s Defensive Player of the Year and a Second Team All-Conference selection in 2023.
“Jaxon has a tall, lanky frame that switch hits as a catcher. He’s a very projectable player that has a good catch and release from behind the plate,” Hallock said. “He moves well on the offensive side to where he’s beginning to drive the ball out of the park and will build on that here at BGSU.”
Chase Chopin (Freshman outfielder)
Chopin, the ninth-ranked outfielder in Ohio’s 2024 class according to Perfect Game, arrives at Bowling Green from Jonathan Alder High School.
This past season with the Pioneers, Chopin was named a Second-Team All-Conference selection as a utility player, finishing the year with a .260 batting average and 0.69 ERA.
The Plain City, Ohio, native played for Launch Baseball this summer, posting a .373 batting average.
“Chase comes from a winning program and fits our mold of being a speed-oriented outfielder,” Hallock said. “He squares up balls and moves it around the diamond, and we believe he will develop more power on the offensive side during his time at Steller Field.”
Brayden Curlis (Freshman infielder)
Curlis comes to Bowling Green from Cincinnati Elder High School, where he led the team to a 23-9 record and regional final appearance this past season.
“Bowling Green is the perfect size school,” Curlis said. “I like the coaches, and it’s the perfect distance from home.”
The Cincinnati, Ohio, native is the son of two former Falcons. His father, Chad, and mother, Beth, played baseball and soccer at BG from 1998 to 2001.
“Brayden is a really good baseball player. He has good tools and can make plays on the left and right side of the infield,” Hallock said. “On the hitting side, he finds the barrel consistently and comes from parents who competed here at BGSU as athletes.”
Carter Gast (Junior outfielder)
Gast transferred to the Falcons after two seasons at Cuyahoga Community College (Tri-C).
In 37 games for the Triceratops this past season, Gast batted .269 while hitting five home runs, stealing five bases and driving in 24 runs.
However, the Olmsted Falls, Ohio, native was much more successful two seasons ago at Tri-C. In the 2023 season, Gast posted a .410 batting average, .516 OBP and .640 SLG. Gast also tallied seven doubles, five triples, two home runs, 19 runs batted in (RBI) and six stolen bases in 35 games.
“Carter is a physically gifted outfielder with the ability to square baseballs up for average and power. His first two years of college baseball have been very successful at the junior college level,” Hallock said. “We are excited for him to be the next member of his family to attend BGSU.”
Carter Mottice (Freshman outfielder)
Mottice, a 5-foot-10 inch left-handed outfielder, comes to BGSU from Jackson High School, where he led the Polar Bears to a 21-8 record and both league and sectional championships as a First Team All-League selection last season.
“I really liked the campus, the baseball program and the coaches,” Mottice said.
The Canal Fulton, Ohio, native has four older brothers who have all played collegiate baseball. His oldest played at Cincinnati, while the other three played at Malone.
“Carter also comes from a winning program and a baseball family in which his four older brothers played college baseball,” Hallock said. “He’s rangy in the outfield and has smooth offensive actions to go with an all-around package that will be very good for our program.”
Garrett Sloan (Redshirt sophomore infielder)
Sloan transferred to Bowling Green after seeing limited action across two seasons at New Mexico State.
The Goodyear, Arizona, native redshirted in 2023 before appearing in just one game this past season.
In his senior year at Estrella Foothills High School, Sloan was named the 2022 Conference Offensive Player of the Year and a First Team All-State selection. He batted .554, hitting six home runs, 10 doubles and 10 triples while driving in 49 runs.
“Garrett is an athletic and physical left side of the infield type of player. He has the ability to drive the ball from the right side of the plate,” Hallock said. “He’s enthusiastic and eager to come to BGSU to contribute to our program. He’s going to help us this year and the years to come.”
Micah Smith (Freshman right-handed pitcher)
Smith, a 6-foot-2-inch right-handed pitcher, comes to Bowling Green from New Boston Huron High School.
The Flat Rock, Michigan, native led the Chiefs to a league title in all three of his varsity seasons and earned Huron League First Team honors the past two seasons.
“Micah is a big-time competitor with a solid fastball and breaking ball combo. He pitches with emotion and has some athletic gifts that allow him to produce at a high level,” Hallock said. “Another multi-sport athlete, he will only get better once he spends his full amount of time on baseball.”
Carrson Sova (Freshman right-handed pitcher)
Sova, a 6-foot-8-inch right-handed pitcher, joins the Falcons from Bishop Fenwick High School.
“BGSU is a great fit for me,” Sova said. “The college of business is one of the best in the Midwest and it is important for me to have a great education.”
The Liberty Township, Ohio, native earned All-League Second Team honors this past season after racking up 56 strikeouts in 47 innings pitched.
Sova earned All-League First Team honors in 2022 after posting a 1.14 ERA and striking out 43 batters in as many innings pitched.
“Carrson has a tall and very projectable frame. He fills up the strike zone with his full arsenal and works quickly on the mound,” Hallock said. “He’s just scratching the surface of what he can become because he’s a multi-sport athlete that will fully develop once he focuses on baseball.”
Ty Roder (Redshirt junior right-handed pitcher)
Roder transferred to Bowling Green after spending three years at Wright State.
After redshirting in 2022, Roder appeared in 20 games with three starts in 2022, finishing with a 2-1 record and 5.27 ERA.
However, Roder went just 1-3 this past season and finished with a 13.68 ERA in 13 appearances and seven starts.
Over the past two seasons, the Waterville, Ohio, native has tossed four shutout innings against Toledo, racking up three strikeouts.
“Ty is a power arm from the right side with all of the tools to be a great pitcher. He has won at this level and knows what it takes to get the job done on the mound,” Hallock said. “Being a local product, we are excited to bring him back home to the 419 and turn him loose next spring.”
