BGSU women’s golf and head coach Erin Fahey announced the addition of Clare Yeazell to next year’s roster.
Yeazell (West Chester, Ohio) graduated earlier this year from Lakota East High School where she was a four-year letter winner and two-time captain for the women’s golf team. While at Lakota East, she earned 2023 Greater Miami Conference Player of the Year and was the 2023-2024 Cincinnati Enquirer Women’s Golfer of the Year. Yeazell, also, finished in seventh place at the OHSAA State Golf Tournament and was the Greater Miami Conference Tournament Champion in 2023.
“Clare is a proven competitor and someone who will make an immediate impact right away,” Fahey said. “Throughout the recruiting process, it became clear that Clare is passionate about the game of golf, a tireless worker, and someone who wants to be a part of something bigger than herself.”
Yeazell said golf is a family affair.
“I started hitting golf balls when I was three,” she told the PGA. “I was pretty much born into golf and it’s something that my whole family plays together.”
Indeed. Her mother, Melissa, is an assistant golf coach at the Northern Kentucky University.
“Once Clare was born, she would sit in her stroller and go to the driving range with us until she was old enough to hit golf balls herself,” Melissa told the PGA.
Clare Yeazell’s high school coach said Falcon fans can expect to see a great work ethic.
“She practices harder than anybody that I’ve ever seen,” Lakota East coach Brady Webb told the Journal-News. “When we’re done with practice, she will just keep going. She’s a grinder. Anyone that knows her knows she is a fantastic golfer. But she’s an even better person.”
