Bowling Green football junior tight end Harold Fannin Jr. has been named to the preseason watch list for the John Mackey Award, joining Toledo’s Anthony Torres as the only two Mid-American Conference (MAC) nominees.
Named after Pro Football Hall of Famer and former Syracuse standout John Mackey, the award is given annually to the nation’s top tight end as voted on by the John Mackey Award Selection Committee, comprised of sportswriters and former players.
The award was previously won in back-to-back years by former Georgia Bulldog and current Las Vegas Raider Brock Bowers.
The list will be cut down to eight semi-finalists on Oct. 29. The three finalists will be announced on Nov. 26, and the winner will be announced at the ESPN College Football Awards Show on Dec. 12.
Fannin, coming off of a breakout sophomore campaign in which he recorded 623 yards and six touchdowns on 44 receptions, has also been named to two separate preseason First-Team All-MAC teams and is coming off of his first All-MAC team nod in 2023.
