BGSU volleyball (4-4) continued tournament play against Brown (2-2) on Friday afternoon, winning in a thriller that marked the first time the Falcons have played all five sets in a match this season.
The orange and brown started the match strong despite falling behind 17-13 at the midway point in the first set. They stormed back to win the first set, outscoring the Bears 12-2.
Brown attempted to regain momentum in the second set by placing BGSU in another significant deficit, 5-1.
The Falcons would go back and forth with the Bears until they took a 15-12 lead. BGSU would take full momentum, rattling off 10 straight points for the set two win.
Brown managed to pry the third set away from the Falcons in a 25-20 set three win that featured an 18-11 Brown lead that dwindled down to 17-20 with the Falcons unable to close the match.
Set four needed more than just 25 points to decide a winner, with Brown pulling even in a 26-24 fourth-set victory off of two back-to-back Falcon errors.
The final set of the match was yet again a close battle, but once the Falcons built a 5-4 lead, they did not let go, downing the Brown Bears 15-11 and putting them back at .500 on the season.
It was an error-filled match for both squads, with Brown having 28 total errors and six coming off of serves. The orange and brown similarly had a sloppy performance with 35 total errors, 13 of which were service errors.
