Junior middle blocker Jessica Andrews was named as Mid-American Conference (MAC) Co-Defensive Player of the Week after her performance last weekend in the UIC/DePaul Invitational.
This award marks Andrews’ sixth weekly award of her collegiate career.
The Guelph, Ontario native adds her sixth total MAC defensive player of the week award, her first in nearly a year since Sept. 8th, 2023.
Andrews came out of the weekend with a total of 25 kills and 20 blocks, resulting in a total of 37.0 points. Her best match of the weekend came Saturday against DePaul, as she had 11 kills and nine blocks, finishing one block short of her first career double-double.
The 2022 MAC All Freshman Team winner shares the award with fifth-year libero Andelyn Simkins, who exited the Erie Insurance Invitational winless (0-3) while tallying 57 digs and two service aces on the weekend.
Andrews and the Falcons return to the Stroh Center for the first time since September 1st against the Ohio State Buckeyes on Friday at 6 p.m. before traveling to Columbus on Sunday for a 1 p.m. match.
