This past Saturday, BGSU football (2-3) traveled to the University of Akron to play the Zips in their first Mid-American Conference (MAC) game on the schedule.
Not only was it BG’s first conference win of the year, but it was also winning number 300 for the program since joining the MAC back in 1953. A monumental accomplishment to what has already been a struggling start to the 2024-25 season.
After the 27-20 victory, Falcons head coach Scot Loeffler was asked about what the milestone meant not only to him but to the program as a whole.
“The reason why I wanted to come to Bowling Green is because it’s got a great tradition,” Loeffler said. “There’s a lot of people that busted their tail to create that tradition. We are very blessed because of all the great players that have played here, all the great coaches, to be a part of something that is way bigger than us, I’m blessed, the players and coaches are blessed to be a part of such a great place.”
With this win and a new record that will go into the history books, along with new optimism going around Bowling Green, with hopes of collecting their first MAC championship since 2015.
The Falcons will try to get back to .500 and earn their second MAC win of the season when they face off against the Northern Illinois Huskies on Saturday, Oct 12. Kick-off is set for 3:30 p.m.
