The Bowling Green tennis team headed east this past weekend for Cleveland State’s Viking Invitational, finding success in both singles and doubles matches.
Matches started on Friday, where the Falcons ultimately found themselves going 2-7 against Youngstown State during their singles matches.
Sophomore Qianyu Liu dominated in her singles match against the Penguins with a final score of 6-2, 6-3.
All three doubles teams for BG found themselves victorious against Duquesne University on Friday during their respective matches.
Along with the success against the Dukes, BG fell short against Cleveland State during their doubles matches with a score of 0-2.
On Saturday, the Falcons had matches against all three schools, competing in singles and doubles matches once again.
The singles match went 1-5 against Cleveland State, where freshman Konstantina Adamopoulou won her second singles match of the tournament with a final score of 6-2, 6-4.
The Saturday doubles against Duquesne went 1-2; however, sophomore Tia Clemens and junior Leticia Fonseca shined through their match with a win of 6-1.
Doubles against the Penguins went 2-1, with Clemens winning her second doubles match of the day with sophomore Brynn Chaffee. Freshman Lucia Gaio and Fonseca won their match with a score of 6-1.
On Sunday, the Falcons finished up in Cleveland with eight singles matches against Duquesne.
Bowling Green went 2-6 against the Dukes on the last day of the tournament.
Clemens continued her success over the weekend with a score of 6-1, 6-2. The second and last win went to Gaio, who won her match with a score of 6-4, 6-4.
Next, the Falcons will travel to Oxford, Ohio, from Oct. 24 through Oct. 27 for the Mid-American Conference (MAC) Fall Championship.
