BGSU volleyball (14-8, 9-2 MAC) continued their roll on the season as they completed a sweep against the Kent State Golden Flashes (1-20, 0-11 MAC) on Saturday.
“What I like about winning in three is it gives more rest to our players so we can practice really well next week, that’s what I like,” head coach Danijela Tomic said.
On a day that honored the 1989 Falcons team that won the first MAC Championship in program history, the current Orange and Brown did a lot to impress the champs.
From start to finish the battle was in total control of the Orange and Brown who won set one 22-25 and did not look back.
In the following two sets the Falcons managed to pull of two double digit wins, 25-15 and 25-13.
It was an ace fest for BGSU who managed to tally nine in the short three sets, including three from sophomore setter Amanda Otten.
“She’s a hitter and a setter and we want our opponents to treat her as an offensive threat, I thought she did a really good job choosing when to be offensive and defensive,” Tomic said.
As the match was winding down Falcon fans got the opportunity to see some faces that had not gotten much playing time this season such as sophomore transfer Marija Tabak and freshman setter Anna Sitek.
The next task for the Falcons will be a road stand in Oxford, Ohio on Nov. 1 as the Orange and Brown partake in a series against the Miami RedHawks that starts on Friday at 6:30 p.m. and continues into Saturday at 4.
Chas McNeil will have the call with Carter Leonard on Friday at 6:30 p.m. on Falcon Radio and Saturday with Andrew Smith at 4 p.m. on WBGU 88.1 FM.
