After getting swept by the powerhouse Ohio State Buckeyes last weekend, the Falcons look to bounce back into the win column against the Ferris State Bulldogs.
The all-time series record between the Falcons and the Bulldogs is 83-66-14 in favor of Bowling Green. Bowling Green also swept the Bulldogs last year in all four matchups they had, their only season sweep of the season. Since 2020, the Falcons are 11-6-1 against the Bulldogs, so there has been some success in the recent past for Bowling Green against Ferris State.
Something to keep an eye on for this series of games are the starting goaltenders. Last weekend against Ohio State, sophomore goalie Cole Moore started both games and had 54 saves on 59 shots. On the season, Bowling Green has allowed 17 goals in six games.
While on the other side of the ice, Bulldog graduate goalie Noah West had 50 saves on 55 shots in the last series against Bemidji State. Similar to Moore, he had five goals allowed in their past two games.
In the eight regular season games that the Bulldogs have played, they have allowed 29 total goals, including an 8-0 loss against St. Lawrence. In their last three games, they have allowed 13 goals as well. The amount of goals that the Bulldogs allow is something that Bowling Green could exploit in both games this weekend.
With conference play just beginning, this is a perfect opportunity for Bowling Green to get some early wins and get back above .500 for a chance to be at the top of the conference.
Falcon Media Sports Networks Ben Corak will have the call for Friday’s game at 7:07 p.m. at the Slater Family Ice Arena. Corak will also be joined by Nathan Burkett for Saturday’s matchup at 7:07 p.m., with both games being available on WBGU 88.1 FM 15 minutes before the puck drop.
