BGSU’s swim and dive traveled two hours east to battle Akron in a dual meet at the Ocasek Natatorium on Friday.
The Zips came out on top, with a score of 195-105 over the Falcons; however, BGSU came in first place in five separate events.
The dual started with a three-meter dive, with BGSU sophomore Natalia Mayorga taking first place with a score of 323.55. This is Mayorga’s personal best, her previous being a 312.45.
Freshman Claire Werner also finished in the top five, scoring a 244.35.
That impressive start also led to BG coming in first place in the 50-yard freestyle event.
Freshman Samia Becdach finished first with a time of 23.60 seconds. Becdach also had the fastest time in the 100-yard freestyle.
Freshman Annie Berrow capped off the top five, contributing with her time of 24.33 seconds.
Mayorga also came in first place for the one-meter dive, scoring 282.05. This was her second first-place finish of the night and her second personal best.
Senior Elise Snyder finished fourth in the event, earning a 255.35.
The Falcons also had the fastest time in the 200-yard breaststroke. Graduate student Ava Vial won the event with a final time of 2:19.62.
BGSU now looks ahead to next week, when they host Hillsdale College. Their second dual meet of the season is on Friday, November 8, in the Cooper Pool in Bowling Green.
