BGSU volleyball attained two honors following their two-game sweep of Miami (OH). Amanda Otten earned her third career Setter of the Week award, and Lauryn Hovey earned a Co-Offensive Player of the Week award, her 10th attacking-specific honor in three years with BG.
Otten received her award on an eight-kill, .303 hitting percentage, 85 assists, four aces, 12 digs, and six total block weekends, by far the best two-game performance of any setter in the Mid-American Conference (MAC). She currently sits third in the MAC in assists per set with 9.11.
Hovey split her offensive award with Buffalo’s middle blocker, Abby Leigh. The junior opposite hitter’s 30 kills, .400 hitting percentage, five aces, and eight blocks took 39 points for the Falcons (7 points more than Leigh). Additionally, she was only a handful of digs away from a double-double in both games, impressive as she played only seven sets.
Otten and Hovey next compete in Dekalb, Illinois on Friday, Nov. 8 and Saturday, Nov. 9 against the Northern Illinois Huskies.
