The BGSU men’s basketball team will host their first home game of the season on Friday night, welcoming the Davidson Wildcats to the Stroh Center.
The Falcons are in their second season under head coach Todd Simon and are coming off a 20-win campaign last year.
The Orange and Brown will be looking to avenge their season opener loss to Southern Miss on Monday.
Matchup History
These two teams have met two times before, with the all-time series tied up at one apiece.
The teams last faced each other nearly 40 years ago, in 1987, when Davidson defeated Bowling Green 76-70.
Scouting Bowling Green
The Falcons are coming off a hard-fought loss at Southern Miss on Monday, where they fell short 77-68.
Bouncing back at home is something the Falcons do very well though. Last season, they were 12-5 at the Stroh Center.
The Falcons are seeking their eighth consecutive home-opener victory.
Scouting Davidson
The Orange and Brown will take on a Davidson team that struggled last season with a record of 15-17 and an Atlantic 10 conference record of 5-13
Coming off a dominant 88-47 win over William Peace, the Wildcats look to use the momentum to come into the Stroh Center and steal one from the Falcons.
Davidson looks to change up their luck on the road from last season, as they were only able to win four games.
Heading into their third season under head coach Matt McKillop, the Davidson Wildcats look to turn the team around and get back to their winning ways.
Falcon Four Players to Watch
Trey Thomas (Bowling Green #1)
Thomas was able to get out to a solid start this season, tying the team-high in scoring at 17 points. Thomas scored with amazing efficiency, going 6-11 from the field and 5-7 from three-point range.
Look for Thomas to get the ball in his hands early and set the offensive tempo for the team as they look to bounce back at home.
Derrick Butler (Bowling Green #10)
Buter also added 17 points in the loss against Southern Miss, shooting 7-18 from the field and 3-10 from three.
The transfer from Central Michigan University led the team last season with 52 three-pointers made.
Connor Kochera (Davidson #23)
Kochera was an ultra-efficient 7-10 from the field on Monday, hitting his only three-point attempt on the night and adding four free throws to reach 19 points. Kochera was only on the court for 18 minutes against William Peace.
Adding five rebounds, four assists and two steals to round out his box score for the night, Kochera is not only looking to score but also to distribute the ball and get his teammates involved in the game.
Reed Bailey (Davidson #1)
Bailey led the Wildcats with seven rebounds in their win over William Peace. He also contributed 11 points and two steals in the win.
Last season, Bailey collected double-digit rebounds in three different games and ended the season averaging 5.8 rebounds a game.
