Judith Pryor, Vice President and Vice Chair of the Board of Directors at the Export-Import Bank of the United States (EXIM), returned to her alma mater, Bowling Green State University (BGSU), on Nov. 14 to share insights about EXIM’s role in supporting U.S. exporters and helping businesses expand overseas.
Pryor earned a degree in communications from BGSU and has remained actively connected to the University, serving on the BGSU Foundation Board of Directors from 2016 to 2019 and delivering the Commencement address in 2022.
During her public service career, Pryor served more than six years as Vice President for External Affairs at the Overseas Private Investment Corporation under former President Barack Obama. She later joined the EXIM board from 2019 to 2021 during the first Trump administration.
In 2021, President Joe Biden appointed Pryor as Vice President and Vice Chair of EXIM, a position she assumed following bipartisan confirmation by the U.S. Senate. Her term runs through January 20, 2025.
As a returning Alumni, Pryor expressed enthusiasm about her visit.
“My visit is mostly just for educational purposes, but it’s always good to be back on campus, as I was a 1985 BGSU graduate,” Pryor said.
During her talk with students, Pryor emphasized the importance of taking full advantage of the college experience.
“If I could give one piece of advice to the students here at BGSU, I would say, enjoy your time here. Take in all that BGSU has to offer and apply it through all aspects of your life,” Pryor said.
Pryor’s visit provided students with a unique opportunity to learn about EXIM and its mission of helping U.S. businesses compete in global markets. Through her career journey, Pryor demonstrated the value of a BGSU education and the far-reaching impact of global trade initiatives.
