Bowling Green volleyball and head coach Danijela Tomic announced Tuesday that they have added four new players for their 2025 class.
“This group of young women brings a combination of skill, versatility, experience, and passion for the game that will elevate our program. Beyond their volleyball talent, these student-athletes come from great families and exemplify the character that aligns with our core values and championship standards,” Tomic said.
The crop of players stays relatively local, with three of the four coming from Ohio and Michigan, with one signee from the same town as BG volleyball great Petra Indrova, Jihlava, Czech Republic.
Alivia Brown (Defensive Specialist)
A native of Temperance, Michigan, Brown tallied 1,000 digs, 500 kills and 200 aces in her career for Bedford Senior High, including two seasons that she spent as a team captain.
First Team All-Conference in 2023, the 5’10 defensive specialist made waves as a three-year member of the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Phenom Watch List.
“What attracted us to Alivia, besides her skill versatility, is also her leadership, a relentless drive to improve, and a true passion for the game and her team,” Tomic said. “Alivia is an ultimate team player and an all-around excellent volleyball player with a great work ethic and an even better attitude. She comes from winning high school and club programs where she played as an outside hitter and a defensive specialist.”
Ava Buddelmeyer (Outside Hitter)
Carrying on a common theme in Tomic signings, Buddelmeyer can play nearly everywhere, being seasoned at outside hitter, setter and right side, according to Hudl.
The Findlay, Ohio native spent all four years of her high school career playing varsity for Findlay High School, putting up 1,100 kills in her senior year with 330 kills and 240 digs in 2024 alone.
“Her athleticism and ability to lead and carry a big offensive load on the team immediately impressed us during the recruiting process,” Tomic said. “Ava’s commitment to continuous improvement and team-first mentality align perfectly with BGVB values.”
Katerina Pickova (Opposite Hitter)
Coming from the highest competition in the Czech Republic, U20 Extra League, Pickova won the U20 First League in the 2023-2024 season.
The decision to come to BGSU was fueled by her friendship with Indrova, with who she had connections from her hometown.
“Katerina’s skills, physicality, competitive mindset, and potential to contribute both offensively and defensively make her an exciting addition to our program,” Tomic said. “We can’t wait to see Katerina continue the legacy of excellence at BGSU and make her mark on Falcon Volleyball.”
Kendall Williams (Middle Blocker)
Williams, the second defensive player in the class, stands at 6-foot-one-inch and has a strong career with the Grand Blanc, Michigan Bobcats.
First Team All-League and All-Region in 2023, the middle blocker was also nominated for All-State but did not win the nod. Williams also continues BG volleyball’s record of academic excellence with two All-State Academic Team awards.
“Kendall brings a strong work ethic, a quiet but competitive spirit, and academic excellence that align perfectly with our program’s culture,” Tomic said. “Throughout the recruiting process, Kendall stood out for her athleticism and potential to develop into a strong and dynamic middle blocker. She also comes from winning high school and club programs and was a club teammate with Alivia.”
