This past Sunday, Karl Brooks, defensive lineman for the Green Bay Packers and BGSU alum made the play of the day, blocking a 46-yard game-winning field goal to seal the victory for the Packers to beat the Chicago Bears 20-19.
Today, the NFL announced that Brooks was named NFC Special Teams Player of the Week.
“We heard that Karl blocked the kick. Anytime we see a BG guy out there doing good things, it’s great. So happy for Karl,” said head coach Scot Loeffler, who coached Brooks from 2019-2022.
Packers head coach Matt LaFleur gave Brooks one of the game balls after the conclusion of the game on Sunday.
“It was just an unbelievable feeling,” said Brooks.
This season, Brooks has amounted to eight tackles, 1.5 sacks, and a forced fumble for the Packers.
