Earlier this week, BGSU softball announced the addition of 5 new student-athletes to the Falcon program for the fall of 2025. Michelle Gardner, first-year head coach of the Bowling Green State University softball team, had high praise for each of the girls.
Sienna Hutchins
Hutchins was a four-year letter winner with two all-conference selections and had an all-district first-team to her name from Marysville H.S. in Raymond, Ohio.
“Sienna is a true utility who can play multiple positions and brings speed to her game. She is someone who will walk in and make a difference, challenging her teammates around her with her work ethic and drive.” Gardner said.
Hutchins plans to major in a branch of business and minor in political science at BGSU. The Orange and Brown will become her home because of the opportunities within the education and softball programs.
Lexi Nolen
Nolen earned herself first-team all-district along with all-region first-team honors at Horizon H.S. in Scottsdale, AZ.
“Lexi has power to all fields, and she will see time on the corners. We expect her to have an immediate impact on the field. She is very driven and will push everyone to be better every day.” Gardner said.
Nolen also plans to major in business and is both excited and honored to be able to continue her education and softball career with BGSU.
Valyn Pattengale
Pattengale has earned all-area, all-conference, and all-county honors twice each as long as being a two-time all-state selection from Daleville H.S. in Daleville, Indiana.
“Valyn is a catcher/infielder with a very strong arm who can hit for power from the right side. She is very high energy and can bring people up with her.” Gardner said.
Pattengale plans to major in journalism and cannot wait to indulge in the BGSU school spirit and culture.
Quinn Rives
Rives was named first-team all-district and was her team’s defensive MVP at Cedar Ridge H.S. in Round Rock, TX.
“Quinn is a true utility who can play infield and outfield. She has power with a good mix of speed as well. We love her passion and dedication to the game, combined with her hustle. She goes hard in everything she does.” Gardner said
Rives plans to study biochemistry and has chosen the Falcons based on the tight-knit atmosphere of the community.
Hannah Simko
Simko earned all-district and all-conference honors, along with being nominated for player of the year at Plymouth H.S. in Canton, Michigan.
“Hannah is a very versatile slapper who combines power and speed. She will put constant pressure on defenses and create chaos on the base paths. She is the definition of a gamer, with good instincts and good knowledge of the game.” Gardner said.
Simko plans to study elementary education here. She loves the atmosphere and the coaching staff here at BGSU.
All five student-athletes had mentioned how important both BGSU’s culture and community were to their signings. The excitement was hard to contain as they could not wait to join the Falcon family in the fall of 2025.
The Falcons will start the 2025 season on Feb. 7 at a tournament hosted by USC Upstate.
