The Holiday returned to Main Street this past weekend, bringing festive cheer to Bowling Green.
The parade, a beloved tradition in the city, takes place every year on the Saturday before Thanksgiving, with Main Street closed off exclusively for the event. The two-hour parade is a major highlight for the community, earning its distinction as the largest parade in northwest Ohio.
The parade kicked off promptly at 10 a.m. Representatives from BGSU were front and center, including the BGSU spirit group SicSic and University President Rodney Rogers.
Local police and firefighters also participated, proudly showcasing their fire trucks and police cars as they rolled down Main Street in the parade. BGSU athletes followed, tossing candy to the excited children lining the streets.
Children had a great time, and it wasn’t just about the free candy. Mrs. Claus made an appearance, waving to the crowd, alongside the Grinch. Plus, a charming horse-drawn carriage, decorated with classic Christmas ornaments and decor.
One of the standout features of the parade is the impressive musical performances. The Falcon Marching Band, the third-largest college band in the country, performed for the crowd along with local schools, including Bowling Green High School’s band and several other nearby schools.
