Garner was ranked a top-60 player in the state of Ohio according to 247Sports. Earned first-team all-Federal League and all-Ohio honors in 2024. Recorded 80 tackles, 22 tackles for loss, eight sacks, and forced two fumbles as a senior.
“[I] chose to stay committed and sign to Bowling Green because I’m trying to win a MAC championship and I can never forget who started my recruitment out and has been there since day one,” Garner said to Falcon Media Sports Network.
Garner spent a year as a teammate of Bowling Green tight end Harold Fannin Jr. at McKinley.
“Had some Power Five interest, Power Five offers. His Power Five offers were a little bit outside of his comfort zone in terms of where they were located. We were able to hang onto him, obviously the Canton McKinley kids have done quite well here. We’ve very excited to have Dior,” said Loeffler.

Kitna had been committed to former NFL QB Trent Dilfer and UAB since Aug. 22, and flipped last-second to sign with Bowling Green. Completed 187 of his 316 pass attempts in 2024, totaling 2,711 passing yards, 27 touchdowns and eight interceptions, adding 203 yards and four touchdowns on the ground. First-team all-Greater Miami Conference selection. Competed at the Elite 11 QB camp, earning the second-best athletic rating, beating out Ohio State signee Tavien St. Clair.
Spent his first two years of high school at Burleson HS in Texas.
Dad is 16-year NFL veteran and 2003 NFL Comeback Player of the Year Jon Kitna, who was coached by Scot Loeffler in 2008 as a member of the Detroit Lions.
“He was committed to where his brother was playing at, I went down and watched him throw in the winter time and thought he was a very good player,” Loeffler said. “I thought he was a Big Ten kid, to be honest with you. He just recently wanted to look at our place, and I thought it was for down the road…Lo and behold, we got a call at about 10:30 last night saying ‘I wanted to be a Falcon.”
