Bowling Green’s Perry Fieldhouse played host to the Tom Wright Open, a tri-meet with Ball State and Cleveland State that marked the opening of the Track and Field competition for the 2024-2025 season.
With athletes competing in 11 events, the Falcons claimed the top spot in 10 of them, including four performances setting standards within Bowling Green’s top 10 all-time.
Erinae Coleman’s college debut in the 60m dash resulted in a 7.53, a tie for the fifth fastest time in BGSU history.
60m was a strong distance for the Orange and Brown on the day, as DaMya Barker’s 8.61 seconds in the 60m hurdles set the 4th quickest mark ever for a Falcon.
Division II transfer Kiersten Franklin made her presence felt early, running the 2nd best time in BG history for the 300m with a 39.03.
Ashley Kisor paced the field in the 600m run, setting a PR of 1:38.51 that places her as BG’s 7th all-time record for the event.
Other individual events with Falcons claiming first place included the High Jump, Triple Jump, Shot Put, Weight Throw, and 200m events. The 4x400m relay added one more victory to the Falcons’ resume for the day.
“One of the things we talked about coming in [was] just making sure we created that energy,” said Coach Lou Snelling. “The women did a fantastic job making it happen.”
The Falcons’ next competition comes in the form of another home contest, the Falcon Early Bird Open. The Perry Fieldhouse will once again host the meet, starting at 4 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 10.
