BGSU Volleyball’s Lauryn Hovey has been named to the 2024 American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) All-Region team for the Midwest, an honor the junior has won in her previous two seasons of play.
Hovey’s “trophy case” is already full of MAC and AVCA honors through her two full and one continuing season with Bowling Green. For three years, she has been an offensive powerhouse, nailing 415 kills, 47 assists, and 54 aces in 2024. Adding 90 blocks, she has scored a team-high 516 points through regular season and postseason play.
The opposite hitter is ranked tenth in single-season kills (415) during the Rally Scoring Era (since 2001) after finishing second in the category in 2023 with 500.
Her 54 aces stand as second in the Rally Scoring Era for aces in a season, only behind her record of 59 in 2023. She also sits atop the Rally Scoring Era career aces list (139) and is fourth in program history in career aces, 52 away from setting the new program record.
Hovey is the third player in BGVB history to be named to the All-Region team three straight years, neither of the other two (Tammy Schiller and Petra Indrova) won four. Her accolades this season and her career are as follows:
