Today, BGSU men’s soccer fifth-year goalkeeper Grant Balcer announced via an Instagram post that he will be foregoing his final year of eligibility, ending his collegiate career.
Balcer, who played two seasons with the Falcons was the second-choice goalkeeper behind Brendan Graves. While he didn’t make any regular season appearances for BG, Balcer played in the 2024 and 2023 College Spring League for the Orange and Brown.
Before transferring to Bowling Green, Balcer played three seasons at Seattle University.
Balcer will be going on trial with United Soccer League Championship’s (USL) Louisville City FC in January during the 2025 preseason, as he stated in his post.
The Falcons will lose both Graves and Balcer to their goalkeeper group, leaving red-shirt freshman Jason Ball and Will Schutte as the only other two goalkeepers on the roster as of now.
