It has just been announced that tight end for the Falcons, Harold Fannin Jr., has been named a consensus first-team All-American.
Fannin Jr. is the first Falcon to earn first-team all-honors from the Associated Press since punter Chris Shale earned the honor back in 1990.
The MAC offensive player of the year had a record-breaking year as he stood atop not just the Mid-American Conference but the entire country in some categories for all pass catchers. He finished the year with 100 receptions for 1,342 yards, which landed him second across the entire nation for pass catchers. Fannin had nine touchdowns on the year, which was the most across all tight ends in the country.
He also led all tight ends in 21+ offensive categories, including receptions, yards after catch, first downs, broken tackles, and receiving yards.
Despite Fannin Jr. not winning the Mackey award [best tight end in the country], he’s getting his flowers by earning first-team all-American honors from the Associated Press.
