BGSU hockey’s Christian Stoever has received the CCHA Goaltender of the Month to end the 2024 calendar year, the second of his career and the first of the Dennis Williams era.
Stoever had the best save percentage (.944), goals-against average (1.33), and most shutouts (1) of any goalie in the CCHA. His 24-saver start on Dec. 13 marked the fourth shutout of his career and first of the season in only his second game between the pipes.
The senior played his first game of the season against Michigan Tech, giving up two goals with a career-high 43 saves before exiting the game with an apparent injury in the third period. He then made two starts against Northern Michigan and one against Rochester Institute of Technology in December, combining for 67 saves and four goals allowed.
Altogether, he has a goals-against average of 1.59 and a save percentage of .948 while being undefeated at a 3-0-1 record, the tie coming in the game he did not finish.
Stoever and the Falcons next compete at Lake Superior State on Jan 3 and 4.
