BGSU played host to the Falcon Early Bird Open at Perry Fieldhouse for an in-state competition with Ohio and Dayton.
Freshman distance runner Reese Reaman performed like a veteran, setting two top-10 program marks. Her time of 2:13.68 was not only enough to claim victory in the 800m race but was also the sixth-fastest time in Falcon history for the event. She also ran the ninth-fastest mile in BGSU history, with 4:56.32. Junior Kylee Cubbison had an even stronger performance in the mile, setting the fourth-fastest mark in program history with 4:52.36
Head Coach Lou Snelling was pleased with the results of the distances. “I think we’re seeing some of that fitness that was built over the summer and the fall happen here today.”
Trista Fintel posted the strongest field showing for the Falcons, breaking into the program’s top 10 list with her event-winning throw of 15.17m in the shot put. One more Falcon set a top 10 mark on the day, with Alexis Parchman winning the 60m dash in a time of 7.61 seconds.
The Orange and Brown swept two different events, the 60m hurdles and the 200m run, with DaMya Barker, Morgan Patterson, and Christabelle Obi pacing the hurdle event, and Alexis Parchman, Reagan Campbell, and Bianca Staples topping the 200m.
Several other Falcons placed strongly in the meet as well. Rachael Withrow and Regina Rose placed 1st and 3rd in the 3000m run, both setting personal records. Lane Anderson threw 2nd place in the shot put, only behind her teammate. Kiersten Franklin won the 300m and placed 2nd in the 60m dash.
The Falcons won’t wait long to compete again, as they’ll travel to Akron for the Al Campbell invitational on Friday, Jan. 17, with competition beginning at noon.
