On Jan. 14, ESPN’s Pete Thamel announced via X that former Syracuse and Stanford quarterback Justin Lamson is transferring to Bowling Green.
Lamson, a graduate transfer who will have two seasons of remaining eligibility, spent two seasons as a member of the Syracuse Orange before transferring to Stanford in 2023.
A three-star recruit in the class of 2021, the 6-3, 210-pound signal caller was rated as the 54th best player in the state of California by 247Sports. He held offers from Syracuse, Louisville and Boise State, among others.
As a member of the Cardinal, he completed 62 of his 135 pass attempts (45.9%) for 804 yards, four touchdowns, and four interceptions. He also carried the ball 188 times for 428 yards and 13 touchdowns.
In 2024, he set the Stanford single-season record for rushing touchdowns by a quarterback with eight.
In a quote given to ESPN, Lamson said, “I think I have a great opportunity to develop there and contribute to a good culture.”
Lampron brings experience to a Bowling Green quarterback room whose returning leading passer from 2024 is Baron May, who completed just one pass for 43 yards in the 68 Ventures Bowl.
