Bowling Green women’s track and field had a day for the history books at the Al Campbell Invitational, held at the University of Akron on Jan. 18.
Six Falcons etched their names into Bowling Green’s record books, sprinting and jumping their way into top-10 marks in school history, including freshman sprinter Erinae Coleman, who ran the women’s 60m in 7.47 seconds – just 0.07 seconds off of the school’s record set back in 2011.
Senior sprinter Alexis Parchman, who ran the 60m as well, also put her name into the record books, running a 7.55-second sprint, good enough for eighth in program history.
Over in the 200m, Parchman ran a 24.73, which places her tenth all-time in school history for the event, while Junior Kiersten Franklin set the sixth-best mark for the school, running a 24.45-second race and finishing second.
Franklin put herself back into the books in another event, finishing with a time of 55.53 in the 400m, good enough for fourth all-time in school history. Sophomore Reagan Campbell and junior DaMya Barker finished fifth and sixth in the event with times of 58.01 and 58.36, respectively.
Two Falcons also finished in the top five of their respective events – junior Morgan Patterson finished third in the 60m hurdle with a time of 8.97, while senior Reagan Burkey finished fifth in the 800m, finishing her race in 2:17:33.
In the 4x400m, Campbell, Ashley Kisor, Christabelle Obi, and Barker ran a runner-up time of 3:58.51.
In the shot put event, reigning Mid-American Conference Field Athlete of the Week Trista Fintel finished first in the event, coming out on top with a 15.53m throw. The distance was 1.37m further than anyone else in the field. As for the rest of the throws, Lane Anderson came in third in the shot put (13.57m), and Sierra Brinson finished sixth (12.63m).
Junior Bianca Staples took home the triple jump event, finishing with a leap of 12.16m, while also finishing third in the long jump (5.48m).
Next up for BG, they will head up to Ypsilanti, Mich. to compete in the Bob Park Memorial held at Eastern Michigan University at 10 a.m. on Jan. 25.
