BGSU women’s basketball (14-11, 7-6) traveled up north to Kalamazoo to take on the Western Michigan Broncos (10-14, 6-7).
With this win, the Falcons extend their winning streak to three straight and are winners of five of their last six.
The Orange and Brown were able to turn defense into offense as they racked up 14 fast break points on seven team steals.
Here is how the game went:
The Falcons flew out of the gates getting two steals to lead to four fast break points.
BGSU kept the defense tough and clean through the first quarter of play as the Broncos only scored 10 points with no fouls committed.
The Orange and Brown would keep the offensive pressure on as they scored 26 points on 50% shooting from the field behind 10 points from Paige Kohler.
Both teams would slow down in the second quarter and trade buckets.
That slow in the game worked wonders for the Broncos as they were able to put together a 16-6 capped off by a D’Myjah Bolds layup.
Bowling Green rallied behind four quick points from Johnea Donahue to go on an eight to four-point run to end the first half.
Through the first half of the game, the Falcons were able to move the ball at a high level as they had 12 assists on 15 made shots.
The Falcons would head into the halftime break with a 42-31-point lead.
BGSU started the third quarter fast as they started the game and went on a six-point run.
Western Michigan would answer right back with an eight to two-point run of their own behind Hannah Spitzley hitting some tough jumpers.
The Broncos would also tighten the defensive screws as they were able to hold the Falcons scoreless in the last 2:57 second of the third quarter.
The fourth quarter would be dominated by Western Michigan as they scored eight unanswered points that were jumpstarted by Lauren Audino to pull within five.
The Falcons knocked down some timely free throws down the stretch to put the game out of reach and would take the victory 70-63. Getting some much-needed revenge on the Broncos from their earlier encounter this season.
