The BGSU women’s track and field team took on the Michigan Wolverines on Friday at the Silverston Invitational. The Falcons were coming off a performance in which they achieved three season-high times in the GVSU Big Meet.
Junior DaMya Barker took first in the 60m women’s hurdles, with a time of 8.68. Senior Katherine Mendenhall took second in the high jump with a height of 1.63 m.
After going a month without competing, Erinae Coleman took first in the 60m dash (7.59). Alexsia Davis had a season-best mark of 25.83, finishing seventh in the 200m.
While Michigan predictably hogged many of the podiums, BG made a strong showing in several events and made progress toward the MAC Championships.
Overall, the team set some PRs and enjoyed some wins in a hostile environment, with two first-place finishes: Barker with hurdles, and Trista Fintel with a 15.79 m shot put.
The Falcons are currently prepping for the MAC championships in Eastern Michigan, which will take place on Friday, Feb. 28 and conclude on Saturday, March 1.
