Norman, Oklahoma – On Sunday afternoon, BGSU softball (2-6), suffered their sixth loss of the season, this time falling to Tulsa (5-6), continuing their losing skid with junior pitcher Brinly Maples getting the win for the Hurricanes, dominating Bowling Green 7-0.
Maples threw seven innings while allowing five hits, two bases on balls, and six strikeouts. Her dominating pitching today made the Falcons unable to get anything going on offense. BGSU freshman starting pitcher Morgan Beckham got the loss today, throwing 2.1 innings as she could not get out of the third inning, leading TLS to get four earned runs on her. But struck out three in her short outing.
Danielle Burns opened the scoring with a single in right-center to gather an RBI, bringing Maci Cole in to score, making it 1-0; then shortly after, Celeste Wood homered to right, making the score 3-0 when Beckham gets pulled.
Replacing Beckham in the third was Mackenzie Krafcik, going 3.2 innings while giving up three runs, two bases on base, and two strikeouts. Annika Dill singled in the third with one out with Claira Skaggs up to bat as she drove Dill in with a double to right center, making it 4-0.
Still in the third, catcher Amber Turner of the Canes, was up to bat as she singled to the shortstop to advance Skaggs to third with runners on the corners, with Cole coming to bat with Krafcik walking her, leading to the bases getting loaded.
With the bases loaded, Elle Rouse gets hit by a pitch to make the score 5-0. This led to Tallulah Pascucci singled up in the middle to bring in Cole and Turner, making it 7-0.
Finally, with Wood up to bat, Krafcik finally gets out of the third with Wood striking out. This loss gives Beckham her fourth loss of the year, making her record to be (0-4) while Maples (2-3).
