The final week of the Central Collegiate Hockey Association (CCHA) is here, with two teams tied for the third seed, and a legendary coach retiring after 36 years with his organization.
Michigan Tech and Bowling Green battle for third seed
Michigan Tech and Bowling Green are tied for the third seed with a .556 points percentage (PTS%) making this a big weekend for both teams.
The Michigan Tech Huskies ship out to St. Thomas for their final road games of the season with forward Elias Jansson coming off his fourth CCHA Rookie of the Week honor.
Back in Bowling Green, the Falcons host their last homestand of the regular season, facing off against the Lake Superior State Lakers with a significant edge, holding a 99-80-13 record against the Lakers. When at Slater, the Falcons hold a 57-31-7 record over the Lakers.
Both teams are looking favorable against their opponents, both series will keep the CCHA on edge. If they both manage to tie their PTS%, the Huskies hold the tie breaks.
Student Athlete of the year: Alex Tracy
With a unanimous vote, the CCHA recognized Minnesota State’s Alex Tracy as the 2025 CCHA Student-Athlete of the Year.
With contribution on and off the ice, this isn’t the first time the five-time Goaltender of the Week has been recognized for his achievements. The Minnesota State athletics website said not only has Tracy been recognized for his production on the ice, he also won multiple academic awards for each semester he’s been eligible and been an active leader in the Minnesota State community.
Tracy is a productive goaltender for the Mavericks, currently nationally ranked second in save percentage (.944) and first in goals against average. He currently holds a 13-10-4 record this season for the Mavericks.
Ferris State celebrates Bob Daniels Weekend for final home games
Ahead of Ferris State’s final homestand of the regular season, head coach Bob Daniels’ time with the team will be celebrated with a retirement ceremony.
Daniels worked with Ferris State for 36 seasons and is the all-time winningest coach in Ferris State history, securing his 500th win in 2012.
