BGSU hockey defenseman Gustav Stjernberg has been named the final CCHA Defenseman of the Week in the 2024-25 regular season.
Bowling Green’s second highest scoring blueliner nailed a goal and two assists in the matchup at home against Lake Superior State on five shots, blocking three on the defensive end and taking only one penalty.
The sophomore leads all BG defensemen in goals with four, second in points with 15, first in rating at +5 and first among all skaters blocks with 40. Although known for his physicality, he has taken only three penalties since Jan. 25 and five in the new year.
This is the second CCHA accolade of his career and of the season, his other on a four-point weekend on Jan. 13. The award is BG’s fifth for defenseman and eighth overall this campaign.
